I'm not a healer myself, but I've been fortunate to know several people who undeniably are. You probably know someone like this too—those special individuals who seem to have an innate ability to make others feel better, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They Were Healing Before They Knew It
My friend Jamie never set out to be a "healer." But I've watched people gravitate to her during their darkest moments for years. Complete strangers open up to her at coffee shops. She'll casually touch someone's shoulder during conversation, and I've literally seen the tension melt from their body.
When I finally asked her about this gift, she seemed surprised. "I'm just being present with people," she said. But it's more than that. The healers I know were channeling this energy long before they ever acknowledged it.
Signs I've Noticed in the Natural Healers Around Me
Over the years, I've spotted certain patterns in the people who have this special ability:
They sense what's wrong before you say it. My cousin can walk into a room and somehow know exactly who's hurting and why.
Animals and children are drawn to them. It's almost comical watching my neighbor's normally shy cat practically leap into my friend Sarah's lap whenever she visits.
They feel others' pain—sometimes literally. My colleague often gets headaches when someone nearby is stressed.
People tell them their deepest secrets without understanding why. "I've never told anyone this before," is a phrase healers hear constantly.
They exhaust easily in crowded places. The energy exchange simply drains them.
The Self-Doubt They All Face
Almost every natural healer I know struggles with imposter syndrome. "Who am I to help others when I'm still figuring things out myself?" my friend Alex often says, despite the fact that his intuitive guidance has helped dozens of people make life-changing decisions.
I've been talking about this whole phenomenon with Angel Dash recently. If you recognize these traits in yourself or someone you know, check out our whole podcast episode on UNSEEN LIGHT where we explore this topic in depth.
Supporting the Healers in Your Life
I've learned that the healers among us often need permission to embrace their gifts. They need to hear that their unique approach to helping others matters, even if it doesn't fit some mystical healer stereotype.
They also need boundaries—something many natural healers struggle with. I've watched too many burn out because they couldn't say no to someone in need.
I may not be a healer myself, but I've come to deeply appreciate those who are. The world needs these sensitive, intuitive souls who help the rest of us navigate our darkest moments—even when they're still learning to trust their own remarkable gifts.
