I stumbled onto black mirrors about four years ago, and honestly? Theyâve become my go-to magical tool for almost everything. What I love most is that theyâre super versatile AND you can make one yourself in an afternoon. No fancy supplies needed, no complicated ritualsâjust a few basic items you can find at any craft store.
đ What Youâll Need
Grab these things:
A photo frame with glass or acrylic (I prefer 8x10" but any size works)
Black acrylic paint (more on this in a sec)
A decent paintbrush (nothing fancy)
Optional but totally worth it: herbs for a magical boost
đ Paint MattersâTrust Me on This
OK so hereâs the thing about the paintâit REALLY matters. My first mirror was a total disaster because I just grabbed whatever black paint was on sale. Big mistake.
You want artist-grade acrylic paint, not the cheap craft stuff. Look for âLamp Blackâ or âCarbon Blackâ on the label. The difference is night and day! The good stuff has way more pigment, which gives you that deep, endless darkness thatâs perfect for scrying.
And definitely get MATTE finish. My second mirror was ruined because I accidentally bought glossy paint. All I could see was my own reflection and the glare from every light in the room. Not exactly helpful for seeing visions!
